Mulligan keeps settings deliberately lean — a handful of clear toggles instead of dozens of options across many tabs. Here’s what each one does.
Which edits customers can make
Turn each edit type on or off independently. Only the ones you enable appear to customers:
- Shipping address — edit the delivery address (with optional validation).
- Cancel / reduce items — cancel the order or remove items for a refund.
- Add items — add products, paid by invoice.
- Switch variant — change size or colour without re-ordering.
- Apply discount code — add a code post-purchase, refunded as a retention offer.
- Contact email — correct the email on the order.
- Gift message — add or edit a gift message.
- Requested delivery date — set or change a preferred delivery date.
- Message the store — let customers send a support message into your admin inbox.
Editing time window
Sets how long after checkout customers can edit. Default: 1 hour. Because ~95% of edits happen within the first 30 minutes, a short window covers most real needs while limiting exposure once orders move toward fulfillment.
Address strict-mode
When on, addresses that can’t be verified by the validation provider are blocked rather than just flagged. Use it if a wrong address is costlier to you than a little extra customer friction. See Address validation.
Same-country rule
Customers can correct an address but cannot change the country. This keeps taxes, duties, and shipping zones consistent with the original order. This rule is core to keeping address edits safe.
Discount recalculation
When a customer reduces an order, any discount is recalculated against the new total. This stops someone from keeping a discount that the smaller order should no longer qualify for.
Reverse-unpaid edits
When a customer adds items and pays by invoice, Mulligan watches for payment. If the invoice isn’t paid by the deadline, the edit auto-reverses — the order returns to its previous state. No unpaid items ship, and no one has to chase it.
Order-holds (fulfillment holds)
Optionally place a fulfillment hold on an order while it’s being edited, so nothing ships mid-change. This ships off by default — enable it if your fulfillment moves fast enough that a hold adds real safety.
